

It's one of the best pieces of OEM fan control software around. I'd recommend checking out Asus' Fan Xpert software. To put it simply, motherboard based control is quieter, offers much greater control and best of all, it automatically adjust fan speeds depending on the temperatures reported by your system's thermal sensors. The only purpose they served was to add cable clutter.Īs long as you have a motherboard that has good fan control, such as your Asus VIII Hero, then I can't think of a single realistic scenario when controlling the fans with anything other than the motherboard would be better (with the possible exception of very high end hardware controllers aimed at water cooling). In fact, I have two cases with built in fan controllers and in both cases, I've removed them. Over the years I've used built in fan controllers, high end 5.25" controllers and motherboard based fan control.
